I would love to call today a nice snow day, and while it is cold and wet and "adverse" weather conditions, it is not snowy. It is icy. And ice is bad, especially when it comes to roads.
I left work today at 1pm, probably should have just left at 11am when the dad returned home to work from home. My 20 minute drive took nearly 40 minutes because I drove an average of 25mph; note: speed limit ranges 35-55mph for my drive. We were creeping, but it was necessary even though precautions were made to prevent icing on the roads, I saw 3 cars skid off the road in my 40 minute drive. And I left work early! I hate to see what it is at 5pm.
Here are two pictures I snapped of our grill out back full of icicles:
Anyway, with my ice day off work, there wasn't any playing outside, so I snuggled up on the couch, watched Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and proceeded to be disgusted by the Thanksgiving episode. Sorry, but it was gross.
Rob got home around 3:30 (yay for the clinic cancelling appointments and them getting to leave sort of early!). He took control of the TV watching James Bond and I proceeded to deep clean the kitchen. It is sparkling clean now (and the only clean room in our house).
Then, I realized I have not shared our most recent addition to our home:
She's a dresser that my parent's bid on at an auction by mistake (they thought the piece up for bid was another piece). She needs a bit of repair, but I'm particularly fond of the drawer fronts and pulls, so I'm trying to figure out a way to keep them and then paint the rest of it due to some damage.
Though, I may just end up painting the entire dresser.
Thoughts, suggestions, ideas accepted and excuse the junk on top and around - I obviously didn't try to stage this because this is real life.
Rob & I had to cancel/reschedule our dining-out supper club with friends because of the weather, but fortunately I think we are going to just do it tomorrow and watch the UNC basketball game together!
So tonight, we dine on wine and Digiorno pizza :) Hey, we're iced in - it's the best I could do!
I feel ya on the ice storm! By the way, am I not the only one who can have a clean kitchen and feel completely at peace even if the rest of the house is a disaster?! Love a clean kitchen.
ReplyDeleteBleh. It was like that here too!! Love that dresser- feel like there's tons of potential ... I would Pinterest ideas ;) hehe
