Until 3 o'clock

Every day post-school I have instilled a "quiet time" of sorts for the now 4-year old. He is welcome to play, read, or rest quietly in his room for at least 30 minutes. At 30 minutes I go to his room & most often find him asleep; he's then allowed to sleep for up to 30 more minutes. This coincides 95% of the time with the baby's afternoon nap. So, 1 hour per day I find quiet time to check social media, take a rest, or just eat my lunch in peace, free of kiddos. That is as long as dishes are washed, laundry is done, and toys are put away.

Every day he does this for me & I am grateful because apparently he refuses to rest on the weekends. I gently shut the door at 2pm and am told not to enter until 3pm. It's just glorious.

I guess, maybe, I can start bringing my computer and doing some real blogging of the nanny day-book in 2013. We'll see.

  1. That sounds like perfection (coming from a mom who basks in the glory of quiet time!)

  2. ahhh... the days of "rest days"... how i miss those. it used to work for my daughter until she realized that being alone in her room is boring and that she'd rather be with us. that was the end of rest time LOL
