It's only Tuesday and I'm ready for the weekend, at least it's going to be in the 60s today. Last weekend was a combination of fun & relaxing.
Towards the end of the week I started to get an itch to go out of town, so I invited myself to my friend Lauren's place in Charlotte. She happily obliged & even rearranged her morning so that we could watch the UNC basketball game together at a bar, Duckworth. Great beer selection & we both enjoyed a beer flight after telling the bar tender our favorites and him choosing similar beers. My favorites? Bell's Two Hearted Ale and Highland Gaelic (yep, not similar but both delicious). He gave me a local brewery, NoDa, Ramble on Red (I think was the name) similar to the Highland Gaelic, and then Foothills Jade. I liked the NoDa beer, but not so much the Foothills - though I have never really been a fan of their beer even when we lived in Winston.
UNC won. We drove to Ikea and shopped. I had visions of pinterest floating through my head of variations of Ikea furniture to make my home beautiful. Yet, all I bought was a heart shaped ice cube tray. I realized two things during this trip to Ikea (it's probably my 3rd time going ever): 1 - I get crazy overwhelmed with so many options and people wandering around, 2 - I would have to modify anything that I liked in the store to make it fit our style, so thus Ikea furniture is not really my style as much as I want to make it so. Oh well. Live & learn, right?
Afternoon naps were a must, followed by dinner & drinks at Cowfish. I tried what I thought was non-seafood sushi, but managed to realize 2 pieces in that I wasn't digging it because in fact fake crab was inside & roe was on top (I knew that but tried to push through). Rob loved my leftovers though :) Next time, I'll just go for the burger because the girl next to me at the sushi counter got one and it looked delicious!
It was a quick trip, Lauren had things to do including spin at Fly Wheel - maybe next time I'll plan to join her, so I left after a delicious breakfast and copious amounts of coffee!
Back home I relaxed, meal planned, shopped for furniture (we're in desperate need of a media console), bought Girl Scout cookies, grocery shopped, and cooked quinoa vegetable soup for the
My trainer has convinced me to attend her HIIT class that she's subbing for next Tuesday, so I'm trying to get in lots of cardio & weights this week to be ready. She swears it will be like our training sessions, just 30 minutes longer ... not sure about the extra time but we will see :)
I'm keeping up with the 5:30am workouts, but may add in a class or two during the week if I can convince myself to go alone, though Rob did say he may even try the HIIT class with me next week ... I'd love it if he did but won't set my hopes too high!

I think Ikea is super good for organizational ideas and little add-ons but it's not really our style either - as much as I would like it to be.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for keeping up with the working out - can't wait until my neck and back are back in full swing so I can get back to it!!
